Welcome to ip.iohow.com ("IP Lookup", hereinafter "the Service" or "the Website"), a free public IP address lookup and IPv6 connectivity testing tool. By accessing or using the Website, its subpages, knowledge base, or API (collectively, "the Service"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by the following terms (hereinafter "these Terms").

In short: The Service is provided free of charge on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without any express or implied warranties. You use the Service entirely at your own risk. All information displayed is for reference only and does not constitute professional advice or a guarantee of any kind.

1. Acceptance of These Terms

By accessing or using the Service, you accept these Terms in their entirety. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must immediately stop using the Service. Any continued use of the Service (including but not limited to viewing pages or calling the API) constitutes ongoing acceptance of these Terms.

2. Service Description

The Service is a free utility website whose core functions include:

Displaying your public IPv4/IPv6 address and IPv6 connectivity test results;
Optionally displaying IP-based geolocation information (city, country, ISP, ASN, etc.);
Network knowledge base articles;
A free JSON API for developers (ip4.iohow.com / ip6.iohow.com).

The Service requires no registration, no login, and no account. The Service does not store or record your queries or their results.

3. Service Availability & Changes

The Service is provided free of charge and constitutes no service level agreement (SLA). We reserve the right, at any time and without prior notice, to: (a) modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the Service; (b) change API endpoints, parameters, data formats, or rate-limiting policies; (c) apply rate limits, access restrictions, or bans to any user or IP address. The Service shall not be liable for, and shall provide no compensation for, the full or partial unavailability of the Service caused by maintenance, failures, or force majeure events (including but not limited to natural disasters, government actions, cyberattacks, power or network outages, or failures of third-party providers).

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to comply with all applicable laws and regulations when using the Service and agree not to:

Use the Service for any illegal, fraudulent, or improper purpose;
Bulk-request, scrape, or automate access to the Service beyond normal human usage patterns (including using scripts, crawlers, or bots to circumvent rate limits);
Resell, redistribute, or mirror the Service or the data returned by its API, or build third-party services based on Service data;
Interfere with, disrupt, or attack the Service's infrastructure, interfaces, or network security;
Use lookup results to locate, identify, or track any specific individual, household, or physical address (geolocation information is a city-level approximation only, and the Service expressly prohibits such use);
Engage in any other conduct that violates these Terms or harms the operation of the Service.

We may take any necessary measures against violations of the above, including but not limited to refusing requests or temporarily or permanently banning access, without prior notice.

5. Data Accuracy Disclaimer

IP addresses and IPv6 test results shown by the Service are real-time data; however, geolocation, ISP, and ASN information is sourced from third-party databases (currently MaxMind GeoLite2) and provides only city-level approximations that may be inaccurate, outdated, or erroneous. MaxMind officially states that it does not guarantee the accuracy of its data, and the Service makes no warranty whatsoever regarding the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of such information. You must not rely on the Service's results for any purpose requiring precise location, legal effect, or business decisions.

The Service complies with the MaxMind GeoLite2 license agreement; the required attribution is as follows: "This product includes GeoLite2 data created by MaxMind, available from https://www.maxmind.com". The Service does not resell or redistribute the MaxMind databases.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without any express or implied warranties, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, reliability, continuous availability, security, or absence of viruses or errors. The Service does not warrant that: (a) the Service will be uninterrupted or permanently available; (b) any data or results will be accurate; (c) the Service is suitable for any particular use of yours. You assume all risks arising from your use of the Service.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither the Service nor its operators, affiliates, employees, or agents shall be liable to you or any third party for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data loss, loss of goodwill, business interruption, or any other losses, arising from: (a) the use of or inability to use the Service; (b) any decision made or action taken based on information from the Service; (c) service interruption, delay, errors, or inaccurate data; (d) the acts or content of any third party (including advertisers, linked websites, and data providers); (e) any unauthorized access or data breach, unless caused by our willful misconduct or gross negligence. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain liabilities; in such jurisdictions, the limitations herein shall apply to the fullest extent permitted by the law of that jurisdiction and shall not exclude mandatory statutory rights that cannot be excluded by law.

8. Third-Party Links & Services

The Service may contain links to third-party websites (including advertisement links). The Service is not responsible for the content, products, services, policies, or conduct of third-party websites; you visit third-party websites at your own risk. Third-party services the Service relies on include but are not limited to: Cloudflare (CDN and DNS) and MaxMind (GeoLite2 geolocation data). The terms and policies of those third parties govern the services they provide, and the Service is not responsible for their conduct.

9. Advertising

The Service may display advertisements (including text ads). Ad content may be provided by third parties; the Service is not responsible for the truthfulness or accuracy of ad content or the conduct of advertisers. Any transaction or interaction between you and an advertiser occurs solely between you and the advertiser and is unrelated to the Service. You click ads or visit ad links entirely at your own risk.

10. API Use

The Service's JSON API is provided free of charge for personal or internal business use only and is subject to rate-limiting policies. You agree not to call the API beyond reasonable rate-limit thresholds. API endpoints, parameters, response formats, rate-limiting policies, and availability may be changed or discontinued at any time without notice and without liability. The API provides no SLA and no warranty of data accuracy. If you use the API in a commercial product, ensure compliance with these Terms and the licensing requirements of the data sources.

11. Intellectual Property

The copyrights and related intellectual property rights in the Service's website design, code, documentation, name, logo, and other content (excluding third-party data and advertising content) belong to the operators or their respective right holders; you may not copy, modify, distribute, or use them for commercial purposes without prior written permission. Third-party data (such as MaxMind GeoLite2 data) belongs to its respective right holders and is governed by their respective license agreements.

12. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. The revised Terms will be published on this page and the "Last updated" date at the top of the page will be revised accordingly; changes take effect upon publication. If you continue to use the Service after we publish changes, you are deemed to have accepted the revised Terms. We recommend that you review this page periodically.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the People's Republic of China. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall first be resolved through friendly negotiation; if negotiation fails, either party may bring the dispute before the competent people's court at the operator's place of registration. If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and the Service regarding your use of the Service.
